New Patients
Thank you for taking the time to review the services offered at Core Health Naturopathic Wellness Center and potentially deciding to become a patient of our clinic. Unlike many other healthcare practices, Core Health focuses on a multitude of factors when evaluating your health and potential treatment strategies. Regular new patients undergo a comprehensive intake and health assessment including medical history, history of your current health concern, physical examination, environmental health assessment, and laboratory tests as deemed necessary by your naturopathic doctor.
For patients with chronic disease or who wish to understand functional changes in their body's internal terrain we recommend our Biomeridian Assessment. This can be performed at your first visit and you will receive the results immediately to assist in developing an effective naturopathic treatment plan.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct system of primary care that addresses the root cause of illness or disease and promotes health and healing using natural therapies. Naturopathic doctors are highly educated primary care providers who integrate medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural therapies.
The body is a complex integrated system that responds and reacts to everything like thoughts, emotions, foods, physical trauma and environment. A Naturopathic Doctor understands the value of taking the time to listen and understand the complexity of each individual and to provide the needed support and various treatment options to reach personal health goals.
What can I expect from my first visit?
The initial visit allows time to establish a detailed understanding of the patient. There is time for a complete history, including current health status and contributing factors to any complaints. Time is allowed for physical examination and any recommended laboratory and diagnostic testing. During this time you can expect a very personal, individualized approach to all your healthcare needs and concerns.
Are Naturopathic Doctors Regulated in Ontario?
Naturopathic doctors are the only regulated health professional in the field of natural medicine in Ontario. ND's are regulated in Ontario under the 1925 Drugless Therapy Act and are registered (licensed) by the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy - Naturopathy (BDDT-N). The BDDT-N functions to ensure that NDs are properly qualified to practice naturopathic medicine and that they follow appropriate standards of practice.
